Clifford Walford - Registered Officer
DOB: 14/12/1936

Clifford did not go to school and he commenced his working life at 14 years of age, doing fencing, land clearing and other rural jobs around Uralla. Clifford worked in the shearing industry for approximately 40 years, until injury forced his retirement from the sheds.

 


Trevor (Snowy) Harris - Deputy Registered Officer
DOB: 15/11/1963

Widely known around country NSW as "Snowy", Trevor attended school at Bourke. He left school shortly after his 14th birthday and entered the shearing industry. Trevor suffered injuries to his back in 1994 and was unable to shear. Following his personal experiences with the plight of injured rural workers, Snowy commenced work as an organiser for the breakaway Shearers' and Rural Workers Union.

 


Barry Gissell - Party Agent

Barry left school when he was 14 years of age. He commenced work in the shearing sheds as a roustabout until 18 years of age, when he commenced as a shearer. In 1969 Barry was enlisted in the Australian Army and saw active service in Vietnam with the 6th RAR and 7th RAR. On his discharge from service he returned to the shearing industry, where his skills propelled him to the show shearing circuit in Japan and the United States of America. Barry continued shearing until 1988 when forced from the boards by injury.

 


David McCabe - Party Secretary
DOB: 13/07/1963

Attended De La Salle Carringbah and De La Salle Cronulla and left High School in 1981. A keen swimmer, David was a NSW still water representative and Australian open finalist. While studying at Wollongong University, David supported himself through mowing lawns, bar-work and beach inspector. David obtained a Degree in Commerce and then completed studies with the Solicitors and Barristers Admission Board. He has specialised in Workers Compensation cases and is referred matters by the Shearers and Rural Workers Union in NSW.
